Old Joe's Kaia is a wellness retreat venue and event space in Mpumalanga where small groups come to reconnect — with each other, with nature, and with themselves. Set in the Schoemanskloof near Nelspruit, our venue accommodates 10 to 16 overnight guests across 8 rooms, with conference seating for up to 20 delegates. Every event includes full plant-based catering by The Seedling Kitchen, on-site accommodation, and the unhurried pace of the valley.
How We Host
Wellness Retreats
Wellness practitioners, yoga teachers, and grief counsellors choose Old Joe's Kaia for its nurturing atmosphere and intimate scale. The property becomes exclusively yours — gardens, labyrinth, pool, and all communal spaces. Past retreats have included grief healing weekends, mindfulness intensives, and creative writing workshops.
Conference Venue
A dedicated conference room seats 20 delegates in U-shape configuration, with Wi-Fi, natural light, and garden views. When the meeting ends, the valley takes over — swimming pool, labyrinth walks, and 65 marked trees to explore. For teams that need something different from a conference lodge.
Workshops & Reunions
Marian leads hands-on cooking workshops from The Seedling Kitchen — Kitchen Resets, Umami exploration, Meal Planning, and customised sessions for your group. The property also hosts family reunions, book clubs, and any small gathering that benefits from good food and peaceful surroundings.
